The Hurt Locker - Great Movie or Crappy Movie?

I just read a comment from a friend of mine that The Hurt Locker was a must see film.
I read that this film has several awards:

• winner best film by venice film festival signis grand prize

• nominee best actor

• nominee best supporting actor

• nominee best cinematography

But who is the right person to decide this? Only you can decide on this.  Honestly?  I haven't watched this film yet.  But the trailer is really cool.
